The Ordained Officers of the Church

This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of GodContinue Reading

Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which isContinue Reading

The Bible and The Authority of Jesus Christ (Lecture)

Date: October 20th, 1997  |  Scripture:  |  Topics: Authority, Bible, Criswell College, Preaching, Translations

I have always felt that we have to go back to the originals in order to find an absolute authority for what God had revealed to us in Holy Scripture.
